Sometimes we can't cry anymore and we'd only love to find some humor in the midst of our heartache. Here is a good place to get started and feel free to share your own finds.
Sometimes when you can't possibly produce any more tears, you're so cried out, and when you can't obsessively worry one more minute about what he's really up to, humor can save you.
You never feel like laughing when your world is coming apart. However, if the gods are smiling on you, they might send you someone or something that'll have you doubled over in laughter for a change, not pain. Your humorous godsend then goes along on their merry way, and your mood is considerably lighter plus you have the advantage of a wee-bit-wider perspective on your life than the ridiculously narrow one intense pain affords. You're reminded that even though this life contains untold horrors, it also contains the great gifts contained in humor that can act as a counterweight.
Here, then, are some gems we've come across during our own dark days, and as ever, we invite you to share your own mirthful PoSA anecdotes with us here on this page.
This is the site to surf when you are DONE with your lyin', cheatin' significant other. Or if you want to be done and can't somehow muster the courage to ditch him or her. To illustrate my point, the tagline for this site is: Lose a Cheater, Gain a Life
The woman who writes this site is whip-smart, fiercely funny and acerbic as hell. I can't get enough of her and wish she'd write a book. She's also incredibly wise and can cut through the crap faster and better than almost anyone I know when it comes to "decoding" the cheater's ways. There can truly be a point at which you think," Addiction, Shmaddiction, I don't care what you call it, I just can't have it hurting me anymore!"...which is when you key in chumplady's site. I promise, you WILL gain the courage to at least look at your cheater without your rose-colored glasses.
Especially recommended; her articles on Spackle, The Unified Theory of Cake (as in he wants a committed relationship and he wants his cake, too), and Untangling the Skein of Fuckedupness (in which she gently chides the adoring wives among us who think it's our mission in life to help the poor cheater with mercy and our psychoanalysis of all his problems because he had a tough childhood, abusive priest, etc...)
Read her and enjoy her and tell her Team Posarc sends greetings :-)
Don't Reward Bad Behavior Lindsay McKinnon is a British comedienne who had the dismal fortune of finding herself partnered with a porn addict. Her site is dedicated to making sure no one else suffers through the travails of being with a porn addicted man without laughing their arse off, as she might say. When I first heard about Lindsay's site, I admit to being vaguely wary; after all, I couldn't imagine what might be remotely funny about sex addiction, any aspect of it. Within minutes on her site, I found myself laughing so hard my ribs hurt. If you love British humor as much as I do, and you need to be convinced there's a way to view the PoSA pickle you're in through a wickedly comical lens, go here.
