Healing from Addictions

Mishka’s Life
Mishka is a young wife and mother, married to Ed, a recovering sex addict. On her blog, she details her fears, hopes and some of the crazy stuff that runs through her mind, which is, of course, part and parcel of being married to a recovering sex addict.
Her forthrightness and the fact that her husband also has blogged there is refreshing. I don’t know about anyone else, but I really LIKE hearing from the men who are trying to live with integrity. I want to hear more from them! There are also some good resources Mishka makes available on her site.

Don’t Reward Bad Behavior
This is a well balanced and informative site that has a magnificient delivery pitch! This is run by Lindsay McKinnon, a lovely British lady who’s also a comedienne. After struggling in relationship with a porn addict for years, she finally dumped him, dusted herself off, and created a website that’s sure to have you rolling in laughter. It’s hard to imagine there being anything funny about sex addicts, but Lindsay manages to find and translate the humor for all of us PoSAs.

There are also some great video interviews here, most notably with Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson who are educators on the brain science of porn addiction, as well as the always-loved Dr. Robert Jensen, radical feminist and anti-porn educator extraordinaire. Come to this site when you need to find the humor in your PoSA post-apocalyptic journey back from hell.

Hope for Delilah
A woman named Sonora Hope created this blog/ site to foster healing for women sex addicts and sexual anorexics. Sharing her personal experience as a recovering female porn addict and sexual anorexic, this site allows the reader deep insight as to the addiction from a woman’s perspective. Invaluable and spot-on renderings of what the monkey on a sex addicts’ back feels like.
Tell Sonora Hope we say Hi and Keep On!

Help for Sex Addiction | His and Her Addiction Recovery Resources
This candid blog shares a PoSA’s insight and wisdom generously with other PoSAs. Allowing herself to speak with vulnerability about the travails and triumphs of life with a sex addict, she also takes responsibility for some of the craziness the PoSA can generate, and how to confront and heal that. Though we ourselves wouldn’t use the co-sex-addict “label” the author uses, we respect her right to self-identify as such. Very recommended blog!

Feminism and more

Rage Against The Man-Chine
Come here when you need a reality check for what’s going on out in the culture that created such a transmogrification of our sexuality and the way the feminine is perceived. From her radical feminist perspective, Nine Deuce writes with more unabashed clarity and fierceness on the factors she sees as responsible for the sexual exploitation industries than any other writer I’ve yet encountered. There are many rad-fem writers who have utterly given up on men, seeing them as too hopelessly enmeshed in, and benefitting from the reigning patriarchy to be redeemable. Not so Nine Deuce. Though she’s often brutally honest in her assessment of male privelege, I glean from her words the hope that men can still wake up and do some necessary course-corrections. I particularly love how she correlates the porn/sexual exploitation industries with big capitalism, which is exactly where it belongs, lest we forget this is really all about the big money being made while most users are busy defending their “first amendment rights.” Ahem.

SheLoves Magazine
Instead of just bitching about sexism from both men and women, a brave, young woman named Tina is making a difference: not only with her site but with charity projects that help women in Uganda.

One Angry Girl
I love the fire in this girl! We need more like her…in a world beginning to be dominated by young women aspiring to be like porn stars, this angry girl sets a strong tone!

Feminaust ~ A Blog For Australian Feminism
A new Australian site, updated frequently with new content, run by two cool feminist women with a great sense of humor and an even greater sense of purpose.
A shout out to Josie and Cath from us!

Harms of Pornography

It’s Cheating – Infidelity in the Digital Age
Great new site with very current information on cybersex, the new dating, and lots on porn and it’s effects. Streamlined and easy to browse, we really like this site!

Pornography Harms: Addressing The Porn Pandemic
Impressive site with super-comprehensive materials and data on the harms of pornography. These harms reach across the topics of human trafficking, the way porn harms intimacy between couples, the way young people/kids are being impacted by porn in the culture, the juggernaut of porn addiction and brain science behind it, and much more. Great video clips, too! Highly recommended resource site. Tell Dawn we said hello and keep up the good fight!

Antonella Gambotto-Burke on Pornography
This Australian author’s website has an absolute treasure trove of articles and other resources on pornography. Her own keen instincts are evident from her selection of resources, and from an interview she conducted with sexologist Dr. Gabrielle Morrissey, a must-read. And in the questions and issues she raises. Passionate and intelligent, we love the way she pierces through the heart of the detritus surrounding “harmless” use of porn. We promise, you will LOVE her pornography page.
