In the tiny lull between Thanksgiving and before the impending holiday frenzy really kicks in, we wanted to share our next Survivor's Series episode with you, our readers. And because we received a fair amount of feedback from those of you who preferred the audio-only format of our last episode as it enabled you to multi-task while listening, we wanted to say that even though our new episode is a video, it's just as easy to hit PLAY on your phone and simply listen to it in the car, while making dinner or whatever else you're busy with.
Either way, we think you'll agree it was well worth your time.
When we first launched this Survivor's Series, we explained why we felt it was so important to help honor and validate the brave women who had found a way out of the constant anxiety and eventual erosion of their self-trust and self esteem after years of staying with a chronic cheater (often referred to as a “sex addict”). Here’s that earlier post: https://www.posarc.com/blog/new-survivor-series-video
In this new episode you’ll see me interview a Survivor named Debra Doak, but instead of delving into the details of her betrayal trauma story, we’ll be discussing the gem that came out of that painful time in her life: Debra’s new book, High Conflict Divorce for Women…Your Guide to Coping Skills and Legal Strategies for All Stages of Divorce. (You may purchase this book through our affiliate link here)
Debra’s a certified financial analyst, a certified divorce coach and the kind of smart, empathic woman you’d want in your corner, even if you weren’t sure you wanted to consider divorce right now. For us personally, getting as much information about what divorcing our high-conflict sexual deceptive might actually look like in real life would help allay all kinds of paralyzing fears. For some of us, availing ourselves of the hard-won insights Debra shares would help us be able to breathe again; sometimes knowing how we could get out intact already brings much-needed respite to our fearful, exhausted selves. An extra bonus here is all the information on how to help your children through it, no matter their ages.
If you’re a therapist, coach or clergy, you may find this resource extra beneficial either for your work (so you’ll know how to respond when clients bring up this anxiety-laden topic in sessions) or just to have a reliable resource you can recommend to those clients who need some solid, current information they can start digesting. Additionally, this book is a really gentle read, suitable for even the most overwrought client.
