PoSARC’s New Video Helps You Start Your Own Support Group
I hear from many partners of those who've been chronically cheated on who express needing local support and encouragement from other POSAs ---but--- something gets in their way- either they feel they have to be strong already in order to start their own support group, or else they're afraid that a meeting may be way more involved than they have energy or time for.
So we created a short video that answers some of those concerns and helps you get a better sense of, well, how to get a meeting going and how they work best.
We at PoSARC feel that in general, too many of our interactions are happening via an impersonal media device. It seems even partner support is largely relegated to happening online. Of course that's convenient, but one of the big downsides is that so much of the true essence of our precious stories doesn't really convey well by the inherently impersonal nature of interactions online, replete with well-disguised screen names.
Plus the sheer volume of stories out there can seem to dilute the importance of our story as it gets lost in a blur of 'online text'...overwhelming our ability to take each one in separately, carefully, as the sacred wounds shared by one another fully deserves. My training at Seminary in Spiritual Counseling focused extensively on how essential our open-hearted presence and empathic eye contact is to helping others heal.
Today, we feel that nothing compares to getting a real hug at a POSA meeting from a fellow member who is going through the same struggles as you are. And nothing can compare to actually seeing empathy in the eyes of our circle members as we're sharing our challenges. Offering our stories in person can heal us in a way that nothing else can come close to.
What helps you feel supported through your challenges with a sexually compulsive partner- in a personal-enough way? We'd love to hear so please do leave your thoughts in the Comment box below.
This video will be available long-term on the How To Start a POSA Group page.
